Spring Diesel Bash FAQs

All your questions answered about the Severn Valley Railway's Spring Diesel Bash, including ticketing, pricing, engines and much more.

What are the dates for the Spring Diesel Bash?
The Spring Diesel Bash runs from 13th - 16th May.

How will the event run?
When booking online, you will be asked to choose a specific train and you will travel on this train all day. Your train's motive power will change throughout the day. You'll be allocated a specific compartment, or socially distanced table for the day. Services begin in Kidderminster* or Bridgnorth, and run three round trips. YOU MUST NOT swap trains. *Unless pre-booked to start in Bewdley.

How much are tickets?
You can find full information and pricing here.

What does my ticket include?
Reserved table or compartment in a historic railway carriage. Ride behind your favourite class of locomotives. Travel 96 miles over three round trips, with optional trips between Kidderminster and Bewdley behind Class 14 and Class 17 engines. Photo opportunities.

Why can't I book a compartment on some trains?
We are using four sets of carriages; three sets are a mix of compartments and socially distanced tables, the other is all socially distanced tables.

Can I start / end my day at Bewdley?
Yes, but you must select this when booking to ensure our team can allocate you an appropriate compartment or table. The train will stop at Bewdley after its first departure, and will stop again on its last trip towards Kidderminster.

I want to travel on Train 4 which starts from Bridgnorth, but can I start my day at Kidderminster?
Yes you can. Train 4 will depart from Kidderminster at 10.25am (on a shuttle to Bewdley) or 11am for the whole trip Bridgnorth. Remember, you will only be able to travel on two full round trips by starting your day at Kidderminster. Please let us know in advance, so we can ensure your wristband is in the right place.

Do I have to stay for the whole day?
No, you may end your day earlier by leaving the train at your starting station after the first or second round trip.

How do I travel on the extra Kidderminster to Bewdley shuttles?
Simply stay in your seats! Each train has two extra shuttles between Kidderminster and Bewdley, hauled by a Class 14 and Class 17. If you don't want to travel on this train, you can get off at Kidderminster.
