All the detail you need for your visit!

To help plan your day on our Premium Santa Special, we’ve put together some important information that you will need to read before you visit us.

Important Information

Arrival – We strongly advise you to use public transport, including the excellent mainline train service to Kidderminster. For passengers making their way to us by car, car parks are available at our Stations and within walking distance. You must arrive at least 45 minutes before your train departure time. Remember that car parks will be busy and that you may have a short walk to reach the station platform. Car parking charges vary. Look out for our Marshalls and yellow signage to assist with parking. Please allow extra time for parking.

On arrival at the Station, your email confirmation will be scanned - please have it ready on your mobile device, or printed off.At the station there is a comfortable Refreshment Room, traditional public house and a gift-shop stocked with seasonal items, as well as lots of photo opportunities for a #SVRSelfie! Please listen out for announcements and join the queue when your train departure is called.

Your seats on the train - You MUST travel on the date and train time booked. Our staff will be on hand to direct you to your reserved table of 4, or compartment of 6 - the number of people at a table must not exceed 4, the number of people in a compartment must not exceed 6. Babies under 12 months may travel free of charge, but will not receive a present, and must not take up a seat. Access for the Less Able - We are unable to accommodate wheelchairs on the Premium Santa Special. We do, however, have ramps to assist those with limited mobility on and off the train.

If you break your journey at Bewdley on the return, please note that there is no step-free access from and to the platform.

Buggies & pushchairs – These are not permitted on the train, we'd suggest leaving them at home.

Toilets & nappy changing facilities – You are strongly advised to use toilets located at our stations. Whilst there are toilets on the trains, these facilities can be affected by freezing weather conditions. Our on-train staff will do their best to keep some toilets functioning at all times. Nappy changing facilities are not available on the train.

On-train catering – We endeavour to provide a trolley service on most trains. Hot and cold drinks and light snacks may be purchased at your seats from one of our volunteer stewards.

Dogs – Dogs (assistance dogs excepted) are NOT permitted on any of our Christmas services.

Smoking – Smoking or the use of e-cigarettes is NOT permitted on our trains or anywhere on the Railway. Please look out for advisory signs.

Event Information

Our Premium Santa Special will take you from Kidderminster or Bridgnorth to Highley, and return, aboard a heritage steam train in a reserved compartment, or at a reserved table of four. It is not possible to leave the train at Highley.

You'll have time with Santa as he meets every family on the train, handing out presents to each child and posing for photographs (if your child’s gift is not suitable, please enquire with a member of staff for a replacement). Make sure you have your camera ready!

Both children and adults will receive a complimentary drink and sweet treat (mince pie for the adults, gingerbread for the children), as well as a very special gift for the Christmas tree at home. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know by phone.

For passengers on Kidderminster trains, you may break your journey at Bewdley on the way back if you wish. Seats for the return journey are available on a first come, first served basis, with departures from Bewdley to Kidderminster at 11.50am, 1.45pm, 3pm and 4.15pm.  The town of Bewdley is a short walk from the Station, and has a number of independent shops and restaurants that are well worth a visit. Please note that a break of journey at Bewdley is only available on the 11am and 2pm departures from Kidderminster. Once back at your starting station, hot drinks and meals can be purchased from our Refreshment Room.
